Toyota has competed in the Andros Trophy ice racing competition since 2003, its campaign led up to 2009 by four-times Formula One World Champion Alain Prost. In 2005 another French grand prix driver, Olivier Panis, joined the squad.

In 2007 Team Toyota introduced the Auris hatchback as its race car (in place of Corolla) and in its first racing season Prost secured the driver’s title and Toyota the manufacturer’s championship with seven race victories.

The ice racing Auris is powered by the 3.0-litre V6 engine featured in the Lexus RX 300, mid-mounted and tuned by SODEMO. Although it is has a visual resemblance to the road-going Auris, it is very different under the skin, equipped with four-wheel drive, double wishbone suspension front and rear and a lightweight carbon-kevlar composite body. Preparation is by Tork Engineering, a branch of FAM Automobiles, based in Amilly south of Paris.

In 2008 Prost defended his title in the Auris and in 2009 was placed second in the top, Elite class of the competition.

At the 2010 Goodwood Festival of Speed the Team Toyota Tork Racing Auris, driven originally by Panis, will be in action on the hill climb course.
